Welcome To The VyVanse

Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine)

Vyvanse

The FDA in the United States has approved the prescription medication Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults and some children. It is also authorized to treat adult binge-eating disorder. Vyvanse comes in two forms: chewable tablets and capsules that are used orally. Certain factors, like your age and whether you take your dose with food or on an empty stomach, can affect how long Vyvanse takes to start working. Vyvanse typically takes between ninety minutes and two hours to start working. However, if you take the drug with food, it could take up to an additional hour.

What is Vyvanse

Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) is an orally administered prescription drug for treating ADHD in adults and some children and binge-eating disorder in adults.

How it works

Lisdexamfetamine, a prodrug of dextroamphetamine, is the active component of Vyvanse. A prodrug is a substance that, once inside your body, transforms from an inactive to an active form. The prodrug lisdexamfetamine is converted to dextroamphetamine prior to its activation in Vyvanse.

The neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine are made more readily available in your brain by amphetamine medications like dextroamphetamine. Neurotransmitters are substances that facilitate communication between nerve cells.

One stimulant is norepinephrine. Raising norepinephrine levels in the brain can help you focus better and behave less impulsively.

Dopamine has a role in controlling your emotions, behavior, and perceptions of pain and pleasure. Researchers think that a dopamine imbalance in the brain could be linked to binge-eating disorder. Vyvanse can assist in reestablishing equilibrium.

How Much Time Does It Take for Vyvanse to Start Working?

Your age, the ailment you’re taking the drug for, and whether you take it with food or on an empty stomach can all affect how long Vyvanse takes to start functioning.

ADHD
Within 90 minutes to two hours of taking a dose, Vyvanse begins to help youngsters with ADHD symptoms. This can involve less impulsive and fidgety behavior as well as increased focus and attentiveness.

It could take up to two hours for persons taking Vyvanse for ADHD to start seeing improvements in their attention span.

Vyvanse usually has effects that last 12 to 14 hours.

It may take longer for your body to fully absorb Vyvanse if you take it with food. The time it takes for Vyvanse to start working may also be impacted by this. It shouldn’t, however, have an impact on how well Vyvanse relieves your symptoms.

See “How Quickly Is Vyvanse Absorbed?” below for further details on how food impacts your body’s absorption of Vyvanse.

Disordered Binge Eating
Adults with binge-eating disorder can be treated with Vyvanse.

About two hours after taking a dose of Vyvanse, you can begin to experience its effects for this condition. However, you might not see a decrease in the number of days you binge-eat each week for up to 12 weeks.

Adults with binge-eating disorder who received Vyvanse reported that the drug reduced their symptoms for at least 38 weeks.

Why Choose Vyvanse to Other Drugs?

You may want to find out how Vyvanse stacks up against other drugs if you’re thinking about taking it for ADHD. Among the stimulant medications used to treat ADHD is Vyvanse. Other ADHD drugs include Adderall XR (mixed amphetamine salts) and Concerta (methylphenidate ER). All three drugs have effects that persist throughout the day. The speed at which each starts to act and the duration of its effects, however, differ. About 30 to 60 minutes after taking a dose, Adderall XR begins to function. Likewise, Concerta takes almost an hour to start functioning. It can take a little longer with Vyvanse. It usually takes 90 minutes to two hours after taking a dose of Vyvanse to start feeling its effects. Compared to Concerta or Adderall XR, Vyvanse may take longer to start acting, but its effects last longer. For roughly ten hours, Adderall XR reduces ADHD symptoms. The effects of Concerta last for roughly ten to twelve hours. Vyvanse’s effects linger for roughly 12 to 14 hours. The distinctions between Adderall XR, Concerta, and Vyvanse are summed up in the table below, along with how quickly and how long each medication lasts.

What Our Customers Say

My son, who is nine, was just started on Vyvanse for ADD. He was not hyperactive, just couldn't focus. We struggled with it from preschool to third grade. Held him back in first grade, which helped a little. Then third grade almost killed him. Medications were my last resort. Scared me to death to put him on medicines, but it made a 100% difference. The teacher said it was like a fog lifted. I'm like, wow. Decreased appetite is the only side effect, but not bad

Taking Vyvanse for Binge Eating Disorder. Struggled my entire life with food. Weight has gone up and down countless times depending on if I'm in my healthy mode or my bingeing mode. Started Vyvanse 6 months ago and didn't think it worked at first, so stopped. Tried it again and this time it clicked. I can feel when my body is satiated AND am able to stop eating. I can go an entire day and not think about food, which is a miracle. I think this must be how it feels for 'normal' people."

As a 44-year-old male, who recently went for treatment of this problem. I went for almost 43 with always knowing that something was missing. Being an overachiever, I made every attempt to complete everything but never really completed anything. This drug has changed that. It allows me to focus on the task that I have in front of me and complete it, which has been a breath of fresh air for my job, my marriage, and my kids.
